How to use it

  1. Enter your business name, address and GSTIN once. They are remembered on this device for every document.
  2. Add the client, and their GSTIN if they have one. The state is read from the GSTIN, or you can choose the place of supply yourself.
  3. List the items with quantity, rate, GST % and HSN or SAC. Tick "prices include tax" if your rates are tax-inclusive.
  4. Press Download PDF and choose "Save as PDF" in the print window. A copy is kept in your saved documents.

Good to know

  • Same state as yours: CGST and SGST (half each). Different state: IGST. The tool compares your state with the place of supply to decide.
  • The invoice number is limited to 16 characters under the GST rules, using letters, digits, hyphen and slash. The tool warns you when it is longer.
  • The GSTIN check confirms the format, the state code and the last check character, so a mistyped digit is caught. It cannot tell whether the number is actually registered.
  • For exports and SEZ supplies under a Letter of Undertaking, tick the LUT option and no tax is charged.
  • Businesses above the e-invoicing turnover limit must report invoices through the government portal. This tool does not generate the IRN or the e-invoice QR code.

Questions

Is this GST invoice generator really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many invoices you make. It runs in your browser, so it costs nothing to keep open.

Where is my data stored?

Only in your browser, on this device. Nothing you type is sent to a server. Clearing your browser data erases it, so use "Download backup" now and then.

When is IGST charged instead of CGST and SGST?

When the place of supply is in a different state from the supplier. Within one state the tax is split equally into CGST and SGST. The tool applies this from the state you set for your business and the place of supply.

Can I add several GST rates in one invoice?

Yes. Each line has its own rate, and the tax summary groups the amounts by HSN or SAC and rate.

Is the PDF a valid tax invoice?

It includes the fields that a tax invoice is expected to carry, but whether a particular document meets your obligations depends on your business. This tool helps you prepare documents. It does not give tax or legal advice, so check anything that matters with your accountant.
